The action comes in response to a heartbreaking traffic accident in
Lahore’s Defence Phase 7, in which a collision killed six people from a
single family, including two children. The victims are 45-year-old Rukhsana,
4-year-old Anabia, 4-month-old Hazeefa, 27-year-old Muhammad Hussain,
30-year-old Sajjad, and 23-year-old Aisha, according to rescue officials.The
teenage driver, identified as Ifnan Shafqat, has been arrested and legal
proceedings have begun. Under the supervision of IG Punjab Dr Usman Anwar and on the orders of

More than 19000 challans have been issued to underage drivers driving vehicles/motorcycles
without a license across the province, including Lahore. According to a
Punjab Police spokesperson, more than 81,000 challans were issued this
year for underage drivers across the province. More than 2100 cases of
underage driving violations have been filed in all districts of the province.
While 3500 motorcycles/vehicles have been impounded and action is being
taken against lawbreakers. Checkpoints have been set up in 190 areas
throughout the city, implementing restrictions that ban those under the age
of 18 from driving.
Authorities emphasize that parents of underage drivers have been
prosecuted. According to Punjab IG, Dr. Usman Anwar, parents who gift
their children vehicles or motorcycles will face legal consequences. The

Police personnel to intensify the Punjab Police crackdown on underage drivers without distinction.
IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar stated that juvenile drivers of vehicles and motorcycles
do not deserve any concessions because they endanger the lives of other
citizens as well as their own. According to Dr. Usman Anwar, speed guns
are also being put in important areas, including Lahore, to bring speeding
drivers under the jurisdiction of the law.
