Virupaksha Temple, Hampi: Virupaksha temple in the heart of Hampi is a Hindu temple dedicated to Virupaksha, the incarnation of Lord Shiva. The temple is from the 7th century. It was built by Lakkan Dandesha, the ruler of the Vijayanagar Empire, Deva Raya II. This huge temple has 3 entrances, a courtyard and a building with columns. It surrounds the entrance gates of the temple, the largest of which is the ninth eastern gate. The 50 metre high gate was well constructed and included some previously built buildings. This path, built of brick with a stone foundation, leads you to the outer courtyard where several small churches are located. The gopuram opens into the corridor decorated with ornate stones. The eastern Gopuram has 3 floors and the northern Gopuram has 5 floors. Virupaksha Temple is surrounded by many mandapams and its ruins can still be seen today.

Hoysaleswara Temple, Halebeedu: Hoysaleshwara is a Hindu tourist destination located in Halebeedu, 150 km from Mysore city. The temple was built by Vishnuvardhana in the 12th century but was occupied in the following years. This temple is a fine example of Hindu architecture and displays beautiful paintings from the Hoysala period, making it the second most famous temple in Karnataka.

Chennakeshava Temple, Belur: Chennakeshava temple is located in Hassan district of Belur and has the most beautiful Hoysala architecture. It was built by Hoysala King Vishnuvardhana in 1117 and took more than 100 years to complete. This historic building was permanently damaged during the war and has been restored many times during this time. Chennakesava Religious Centre has been a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu in the form of Chennakesava since its establishment.
